Leadership
Leadership is a delicate balance. I found myself walking a fine line between showing strength and embracing vulnerability.
Spoiler: I struggled. A lot.
My team?
- Unmotivated
- Constant sick leave
- Frustrated
- Feeling isolated
And me?
- alone
- losing their trust
- doing their work for them
- struggling every single day
And some days, I cried when no one was watching. But there was something about leadership I couldn’t shake.
I had a goal, and I was willing to be flexible about how to get there.
I’d read it over and over:
“Listen to your team.”
“Involve them.”
“Give them responsibilities.”
But I wasn’t doing any of that.
And than, I stopped :
- being the loudest in the room,
- trying to be the toughest.
I started with something simple: listening.
The shift for my team
I changed my leadership style from control to collaboration:
- I involved my team in decisions.
- Gave them responsibilities.
- Genuinely listened.
Feedback became part of our daily routine. It wasn’t about me. It was about us.
The result? (teamwork)
Take a guess… 🚀
- Motivation? Sky-high.
- Sick days? Barely any.
- Frustration? Turned into teamwork.
- My team? Thriving.
I wasn’t just their manager anymore; I was their coach, their leader.
I learned that real leadership comes from flexibility and empathy.
And It’s about knowing when to be strong and when to step back.
